STORAGE
Storage of ramps is always an issue. Step Deck
trailers offer storage challenges because every step-deck trailer is
manufactured differently. Our competitors offer “standard hanger
brackets” that supposedly fit all step-deck trailers. Serious questions
arise with this approach:
- Where are the gussets (knee
braces) on your trailer?
- How are they positioned?
- How far apart are they?
- How long are they?
- What angle do they come out
at?
- How much room do
you have from the bottom of the gusset to the side of your deck?
- Where are your
belly boxes positioned?
- If you remove a gusset will
your deck loose strength?
- If you remove a gusset will
you void your manufactures warranty?
Can a generic
hanger bracket solution account for all of those trailer discrepancies?
We do not believe they can. We offered hanger brackets for a short time
and found the customers complained that they did not work on their
specific trailer. We used brackets with “channels” that allowed the ramp
ends to slide in. Our customers complained that it was difficult to
balance the ramp in a crouched position and line the ramp ends up with the
channel. If it is was raining or sleeting it added to the difficulty. It
there was snow or ice buildup on the ramp it became more difficult because
of the increased weight of the ramp. Lastly, our customers complained the
ramps froze inside the bracket channels. What good are ramps if you can’t
get them out to use? What is the solution?
The short answer: It
depends on your trailer. Talk to us and let us explore with you the
best solution that meets your trailer’s design and your objectives
